Baseball Fermions and Bosons

OK, the defense is Bosons.  They own the field.  They can also stand anywhere in the field.  The Fermions are the team at bat.  They can't stand anywhere except the beige cushions spaced harmonically on the field.  And none can stand two to a cushion.  What is the ball?
